 College Hosts FSAG Meeting

The Future Skills Action Group (FSAG) for Hospitality and Tourism, which is made up of representatives from government including education and tourism, as well as the hospitality industry recently held their quarterly meeting at South Eastern Regional College (SERC), Downpatrick Campus.  This group was formed in November 2008 to address the issue of skills for the hospitality and tourism sectors.

While at the College Board members were given a tour of the state-of-the-art hospitality facilities available at SERC. The group met for a joint lunch with the Board members from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

Lunch on the day was prepared by a class of NVQ Level 3 Professional Cookery student’s, providing them with an excellent opportunity to showcase their culinary skills to some of the most significant figures in the Hospitality and Tourism industry in the North of Ireland, including local chef Michael Deane and Howard Hastings, Chairman of NITB.
